Reciprocating machinery is a kind of significant equipment in modern industry such as metallurgy, coal, building materials, chemical and electricity. Its normal efficient working has many influences on the economic benefits of the enterprises. Consequently, the fault diagnosis and operation condition monitoring technology of reciprocating machinery has become a hot research direction in the diagnostic field at home and abroad. Because of the complicated structure and motion of the equipment, and the traditional method of fault diagnosis has obvious shortages and drawbacks, a deeper research to the fault diagnosis of the reciprocating machinery is much needed.This paper takes the reciprocating piston-diaphragm pump as its carrier, and starts the fault mechanism research from the typical fault. Various faults may occur in the operation process of the reciprocating piston-diaphragm pump, and the most hackneyed are slide wear and loose components. Therefore, the research objective in this paper is the slide wear of reciprocating piston-diaphragm pump, and the collision-separate model of slider-crank mechanism that is the main running organizations of the reciprocating piston-diaphragm pump has been set up. System dynamic differential equation under wear fault has been obtained; numerical solution of the equation has been got by using the ode45 of MATLAB. And the dynamic response of system components under different parameters has also been researched.After collecting the signal of reciprocating piston-diaphragm pump under various kinds of situations from Jianshan Iron Mine of TISCO, the MATLAB was used to simulate these vibration signals of principal axis of piston-diaphragm pump. The Mallat algorithm and db4 wavelet function are also used to analyze these collected signals. The method of wavelet analyzing could obtain relatively ideal diagnostic effects on the problem of fault diagnosis of reciprocating machinery.
