ABSTRACT:Electric Vehicle (EV) is very economical and clean. It is not only predominant and competitive in energy and environment, but also very adapted to realize mechatronics with modern control techniques. So it is very promising in future. Now there are many motor to select, such as DC motor, AC induction motor, brushless DC motor and Switched Reluctance motor. Especially, the main advantages of Switched Reluctance motor (SRM) in terms of a simple construction, high torque densities and high fault tolerance have been recognized the most potential motor used in the vehicle, and it has attracted wide attention. This thesis is come from "863" key research project "XL Pure Electric Vehicle and its'control system"and we select SRM as the drive motor for it. Firstly, it introduces the current status and prospect of Electric Vehicles. It analyzed and summarized the features of the motor used in the EV and make it clear that it is very meaningful to study on the SRM in the EV system. Secondly, it introduces the structure and the operation principle of SRM, and then, the unified analytic expressions of the inductance, phase current, tor-que and flux linkage are presented based on linear model. It also presents a modeling of SRM by using RMxprt and Maxwell 2D from Ansoft Corporation. A complete system including additional circuit is provided and the simulation of this system has been done. The result of simulation is benefit for the design of SRM and its advanced research. This thesis conducted a study focused on winding change. It analyzed the factors affected the internal magnetic field of SRM and propose the impact from the change of structure of coils. Compared and analyzed the torque and the noise at different mode of winding, and verify its rationality through simulation and experiment. We can also get the curve of torque, current and flux linkage at different mode of winding. It concluded that the motor performance can be improved by selecting mode of winding reasonable. Finally, basis on characteristics of EV system a digital controller of the SRD is developed. According to the experiment with the SRD, the curves of speed, torque, and power are presented and analyzed.
