Round steel tube is a main structure form, and it has been widely used in space structures such as shell structures. The advantages of the round steel tube are distinguished compared with other types of cross section forms:its materials have been used more reasonably, its ridge is greater, its anti-torsion performances are well; it can be used conveniently in the construction, ect. With the shell structures are more and more popular in our country, it is of great importance to study their seismic performance. Since the round steel tube is regarded as the main form of bars, it is also necessary to study its hysteretic behavior. In this paper, the hysteretic performance of the round steel bar has been studied by the means of numerical analysis and conducting experiments. In this paper, the numerical modal of the round steel tube has been established by using the finite analysis software ANSYS for SHELL181, it also verified the validity of the application of this model in the analysis of the hysteretic behavior of the round steel tube under the action of cyclic bending moment. This paper also includes a large number of numerical analysis of the hysteretic behavior of the round steel tube of the single layer shell structure which is under the action of the constant axial force and cyclic bending moment. By analyzing the hysteretic curve, the skeleton curve, the ultimate capacity, the ductility coefficient, the energy dissipation coefficient of the tube, we discuss the effect of initial geometric flaws of different slenderness ratios, different diameter-thickness ratios, and the section size on the hysteretic behavior of the tube. The conclusions have some value for the testing research. In this paper, the experimental researches of the hysteretic behavior of the six round steel tubes under the action of the constant axial force and cyclic bending moment have been completed. Through experimental phenomenon, hysteretic curve, partial buckling, ultimate capacity, we analyzed the effects of diameter-thickness ratio, axial pressure ratio, soldered balls on the hysteretic behavior of the test specimen. The conclusions and the suggestions obtained have some value for the seismic design of such components. In this paper, the skeleton curve model of the circular tube bending members have been put forward and we found the model quite fit in with the results of numerical calculations and experiments.
