In recent years, both tall-buildings and extra-tall buildings are being used quickly. The over height of the buildings is continuously being refreshed. The bodily form is more and more complex. The mixed structure consists of square concrete-filled steel tube frame and R.C. core tube which is good at speeding the progress of construct, reducing the overall cost, enhancing the overall stiffness is a new type of structural option.This article takes the World financial center of Dalian as the practical example. It particularly introduces the problems occurred in extra high-rise mixed structure design. It detailedly dissertates the frame of the construction, the figure of the member, two defence systems of outside frame, seismic performance-based design, static analysis of elasticity and plasticity. Based on the newest research results,it presents suggestions for preliminary design and blue print.The author of the dissertation, as the project engineer and primary designer, is specifically responsible for a series of analysis and study work during the project preliminary design, feasibility study for the design over the limit of code provision, structural optimization design, and design review for construction design. Measures and suggestions are given in this article for the composite design in seismic zone based on the intensive analysis and study for the key technology.The total height of the World financial center of Dalian is 206.4m. The construction system is the mixed structure composed of square concrete-filled steel tube frame and R.C. core tube. It is an extra tall building. The outside frame is composed of dense columns forms the massive lateral resistance system. The building has two strengthened floors which improve the horizontal stiffness of the whole building. The building has two local transforming truss according to the the architectural function. Profiled steel is set up in the both ends of reinforced concrete wall as embedded columns to enhance the concrete tube ductibility. The elastic and plastic analysis for the structure is carried out according to the seismic performance-based design method. The measures mentioned above effectively enhance the overall lateral stiffness, improve seismic capability, and minimize both the thickness and weight of the wall. The measures mentioned above not only increase overall reliability according to the existing codes but also achieve the permission of State seismic examination committee.
