Vehicle is already very popular in developed countries, it has become the major means of transport. With the social and economic development, automotive in developing countries is developing rapidly. The popularity of vehicle has made great contributions to the development of economic and the improvement of people's living standard, however social problems caused by increasing number of road traffic accidents and the economic losses are prominently placed in front of us.Following the frontal impact, side impact and regulations imposed, many foreign countries have included in the pedestrian protection regulations. In 2003 the EU enacted the 2003/102/EC pedestrian impact regulations, requires that production of passenger cars must be equipped with pedestrian protection system after October 1, 2005.Based on years of the actual situation, the European made some amendments and adjustments on pedestrian protection, introduced new regulations 78/2009. Japan has also promulgated and implemented in 2004, "Indiana head protection standards", requiring that new production of the vehicle must be installed on pedestrian protection devices.In recent years, rapid development of China's automobile market, vehicle fleet rise, and only the first half of 2009 China's total car sales broke through the 6 million units, growth rate reached 17.7%, in one fell swoop over the United States as the world's largest new car sales market .Whit the increasing number of the Passenger car, China's automobile society shape has emerged. More and more people realize the dream of a car, but the complexity of China's road traffic conditions, people; vehicles parallel the situation more typical for the world mixed traffic consisting mainly of flat country, road traffic injuries in the number of deaths highest in the world. According to "The People's Republic of China Road Traffic Accident Statistics Annual Report (2007)" The data shows in 2007 pedestrian deaths due to traffic accidents is 21106, accounting for all the traffic deaths 25.85%; 70838 the number of pedestrians injured in traffic accidents, accounting for total number of traffic injuries 18.62%. Pedestrian collisions in road traffic accidents in China accounted for a high proportion.In this paper, some research on design elements of vehicle's pedestrian lower leg protection performance based on in-depth research of the pedestrian lower leg protection technology was carried out. This paper mainly discussed the effect of vehicle front-end parameters on the performance of the pedestrian leg protection ,established multi-body simplified model of the structure of the vehicle front-end using madymo, carried out parameter sensitivity analysis and the optimal design. in different conditions using modefrontier.In this paper,the study, not only understand the structural parameters of the vehicle front-end on the pedestrian performance of the legs, it also summarized some vehicle design rules and the improvement suggestion.
