Voltage sag has become the key issue of the power quality problems. This thesis analyzed the characteristics of sensitive load and studied the influence of voltage sag on sensitive load by employing the Interruption Generator. An electromagnetic transient power quality assessment software for time domain analysis was developed based on modeling of disturbance source, sensitive load, sag mitigation device and networks. The software can simulate sag's amplitude and sag duration time for a given network, analyze sensitive load behavior of the sag in the network. This thesis simulated and studied the effectiveness of mitigation devices such as DVR and DC-Backup using the developed software. Additionally, the thesis also studied the dynamic behavior of two kinds of distributed generators with suffering voltage sags.
