In VFTO simulation model, it is the critical factor that gives an accurate description to arc produced in the process of disconnector operation, which has a great deal of effect on the calculation precision of VFTO. The general simulation arc-resistance model for arc, is not available to give better simulation for the changing of status during the development of arc. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the simulation accuracy by deep study of high-frequency arc generated in the process of switch operation.Based on the analysis of existing arc models, it is recommended that Mayr arc model can well reflect the changing of arc resistance during the development of arc in small current mode, which is better for arc simulation. This model is verified by simulation where data collected from experiments referring to references. What's more, experiments by using 126kV GIS in our laboratory contribute to the new arc simulation model based on Mayr arc model. Simulation for the transient process of experiments has been done. It is show that simulation results have well agreement with experimental results, which demonstrates that the establishment of the Mayr arc modes has a certain feasibility.
