Firstly, this thesis introduces the development and utilization status of 6 different water sources at home and abroad, and then investigates unit investment models as well as the factors of competitiveness. Then through the comprehensive consideration of different indicators, the paper proposed comprehensive assessment system of water resources and evaluate the overall competitiveness of different water sources using analytic hierarchy process, and through the sensitivity analysis, the change of overall competitiveness under different policy preferences can be found. At last, the rational water source options of power plant for the future has been put forward, which is vigorously promotion of water reuse and the direct use of seawater, consideration of surface water, desalination and long-distance water supply, conservation of underground water, improvement of water use efficiency to achieve sustainable water resources development and utilization.
