In order to solve the preventing contamination flashover problem of the high-voltage insulator, we introduce the flashover mechanism firstly aim to understand the characteristics of leakage current. Then we will improve the designing and structure of the traditional current sensor and replace the core materials with a higher permeability of ultrafine crystalline alloys. Thus, all the improvements increase the sensor's bandwidth and stability and more in line with the characteristics of insulator's leakage current measurement requirements. At the same time, we aim at the error reasons for the current sensor—magnetizing current carrying out a detailed in-depth research. Through the test analysis of data, we gain the law of the influence of magnetizing current of the sensor finally and present a new way of thinking that is a algorithm of determinate the vice-side turns for sensor. Secondly, based on an analysis of the characteristics of leakage current, EMD algorithm is first time to used to analysis and process the leakage current signal which are captured by the sensor. Then the issue of boundary effect of EMD algorithm will be improved.
