As turbine generators capacity increases, shaft voltage has become a serious problem in large generators ,which it is very necessary to monitor it. In this paper, introduces in details shaft voltage mechanism in turbine generators; analyzes shaft voltage changes caused by turbine generators stator joints asymmetric; and through analyzing the magnetic potential under normal operation condition and rotor winding inter-turn short circuit fault condition,the shaft voltage characteristics are investigated. Based on the shaft voltage fault character, a method based on shaft voltage is found to identify the fault on inter turn short-circuit in turbine generator rotor winding. By experiment,shows that the theoretical analysis are right.Finally, Shaft Voltage Diagnosis System(SVDS) is developed with Viusal C++ and Matlab. It has realized sepectrums analysis and fault report successfully.
