As the development of automotive industry, the introduction of the joint venture and foreign advanced technology, The scale of the applications of disc brake in automotive is gradually formed. But while there was a large scale of use in automotive industry, it was to be found that too much vibrations and squeal in a braking action. This would disperse people's attention, make people feel nervous irritability, discomfort, and also seriously affect people's normal rest. Therefore, for the entire automotive industry the major problems currently facing is the analysis of vibration and squeal in the braking process and putting forward some reasonable and effective improvement measures. The first part discusses the various component parts of a disc brake and working principles, makes some related presentations on domestic and international research status of this topic, and the main problems in the current study. The second part introduces the finite element method and two software, modeling software PRO/E and analysis software ANSYS. The various functions of these two software modules and applications are dealt with in detail. In the third part, the FEM model of a disc brake is built., including the establishment of the various components of the solid model, getting the disc brake assembly. Then take the relevant model into software ANSYS to generate finite element model. The fourth part is about the modal analysis of disc brake, the mode of the principal components and the overall disc brake is obtained, including the frequency and mode shape, the stability analysis of the brake system by the frequency values and mode shapes is carried out, to identify the main frequency range of the occurrence of vibration and squeal in a disk brake. The fifth part is the main research on the brakes squeal, Introducing the nonlinear numerical analysis method, such as the complex eigenvalue analysis and stability analysis, and putting forward a number of effective measures for improvement of the disc brake.
