Damping crate may help to load and transport the precision electronic component. The mechanical properties of damping crate will directly influence the reliability of precision instrument, therefore, it is urgent to research the dynamic characteristics of the damping crate with new material and new structure.Based on the modal analysis, the random vibration theory and the impact theory, the dynamic characteristics of electronic equipment and the impact resistance of both the al-foam damping crate and the rubber damping crate are investigated by means of the finite element method. The results show that some natural frequencies of the two kinds of damping crate are in the range of load frequency, so it is necessary to analyze the dynamic performance of the damping crate. By use of the finite element analysis software NASTRAN, we get the random vibration performance of al-foam damping crate and the rubber damping crate. Obviously, the acceleration root mean square of al-foam damping crate reduced 41.9% than the rubber damping crate, namely, the al-foam damping crate can reduce the dynamic response and improve the reliability of the electronic equipment effectively. Simulated the drop process of damping crate by means of the transient dynamics analysis software DYTRAN, the results of impact analysis show that the acceleration of al-foam damping crate reduced by one third than the rubber damping crate, which means that the impact resistance of the al-foam damping crate is better than that of the rubber damping crate.
