Along with the progress of society, development of city and various kinds of high strength building materials wide application, a number of high-rise structures have emerged in engineering. The increasing height of the high-rise structure can result in the decreased stiffness and the increasing flexibility, which needs higher requirements for earthquake resistance protection.Using structural vibration control technology to reduce the structural dynamic response is an economical and efficient means. Multiple tuned mass dampers is an early vibration control device used in high-rise structure. Friction damping device is added in MTMD, so that MTMD control system can not only absorb energy by the vibration of mass, but also consume energy by the friction damping. The control effect of seismic responses of high-rise structure using passive and semi-active control system of MTMD are discussed in this paper. The main research works are as follows:1. According to the basic principle of friction damping energy dissipation, the relationship between friction and damping is established by analyzing the structure of single degree of freedom. Applying the relationship to the structure of multi-degree of freedom is in order to do the theoretical preparation for the following study.2. Finite element software ANSYS is used to establish three-dimensional finite element model of the high-rise structure. Then on this basis two-dimensional multi-degree modal is derived, which structural dynamic characteristic is corresponded with the three-dimensional finite element model. Based on response spectrum curves, the seismic response of the high-rise structure under small earthquake, medium earthquake and large earthquake is calculated by ANSYS. MATLAB is compiled to program time history analysis of seismic response of the high-rise structure in frequently occurred earthquake and rare earthquake.3. Finding out the fit installation position and the optimal parameter of MTMD is in order to calculate the control effect of seismic response of high-rise structure using passive control system of MTMD and the control effect of friction.4. LQR control algorithm is compiled to design bolt fastening force to the mass and to calculate the control effect of seismic response of the high-rise structure using semi-active control system of MTMD. The result shows that setting friction damper device in MTMD can effectively dissipate seismic energy and reduce the seismic response by using passive and semi-active control system of MTMD.
