Preliminary Research On Community Construction Of Old Beijing And Conservation Of Old City

Beijing is an old city and many people live in it now. As the economic development, the residents living in the old city of Beijing ask for the better living environment, while the old city should provide the modern lifestyle for them. How to protect the old city, construct our community, improving the living environment, and keep a sustainable economic development is the focus of this study.At first, this paper reviews the Chinese protection policy of old city nearly one hundred years, the change of houses' ownership and the resident population. And then, we select Shichahai as research object, surveying the distribution of administration space, commercial and financial resource, culture and sports resource, hospital, clinic, pharmacy, education services, social welfare, emergency shelter, sanitation services and road transport services. At last, through analysis the survey results, we summarize the practical strategies, such as verifying the houses'property rights, letting some persons living other place, renovating the old house, and developing underground space.The paper aims to protect the old city of Beijing and support services of public space resource allocation. It's not only to improve living conditions, protect the old city, show characteristics and culture of Beijing, promote sustainable economic development, but also provides reference of protection and community construction for other old cities.There are 15 figures,21 tables,33 references in the paper.
