This paper focuses on the influence mechanism of ice disaster and vibration-fatigue on overhead transmission line conductor and makes an elementary research on the numerical analysis for conductor's strength. With the combination of layer structure and stress-strain theory of the conductors, this article establishes an original mechanical model of conductors which helps calculate the stress distribution of each layer and the value of interlayer pressure.Based on the mechanical model above, the tensile and fatigue properties of some common conductors are analyzed and the optimization of the structure as well as the material option can be determined after the data analysis. Finally, in order to verify the applicability and feasibility, the model is used for of electrical output for Yunnan WeiXin power plant to put forward the program for choosing conductors according to different weather and geological conditions. The results have showed that the method could be a theoretical basis for selecting and optimizing the overhead line conductors.
