Highway tunnels are always influenced by groundwater duringthe period of construction and after completion. It is well known thatgroundwater is all-pervasive, when the water pressure is larger andquality of waterproofing works is poor, the groundwater willpenetrate through a certain channel or flow into the tunnel as well aspose a threat to the traffic safety and the stability of the liningstructure. According to statistics, most of the domestic highwaytunnels exist leakage problems in varying degrees, and the leakageacross throughout the tunnel currently. The leakage of tunnels leadsto hanging ice slide and making the roads icing and gives atremendous threat to traffic safety, and causes a large loss forpeople's lives and property of the state, and causes further damage tothe concrete structure after freeze-thaw action. Therefore, China'shighway tunnels sector still has a long way to go in terms of the design of drainage structures and reinforcement of the quality ofdrainage works.In this work, combining the old Ridge Tunnel project, bystuding the the forms of water seepage, water leakage mechanismsand of water treatment measures of water leakage are studiedsystematically, it is concluded that effective management measures istaken according to the measures of"prevent","treat","drainage"and"lock"as well as the actual situation and the characterization of theproject. Additionally, more comprehensive and objective evaluationof the plugging effect of the Laoling tunnel are brought out, and theown ideas to the design and construction and the measures fordrainage system of highway tunnels are put forward. At the sametime, information and reference is provided for future design andconstruction and the management measures of highway tunneldrainage system.
