This paper is based on the No.8 bidding document HC-Z-JSW(2009) of DHI-DCW CO., LTD: Expert System for Steel Structure Calculation of Four-bar-type Gantry Crane.In this paper, the boom and balancing weight system of four-bar-type gantry crane are studied, and their corresponding mathematical models are established by employing 5 objective functions of luffing resistance moment, deadweight, bar deadweight moment, potential energy as well as balancing weight, 10 parameters of bar lengthen, balancing weight etc. and 19 constraints.The solution of mathematical model is done by MATLABR2008a, with help of which the optimal design software of boom and balancing weight system of four-bar-type gantry crane is developed. The software provides users a friendly interface, and the results of software running after verification shows a great progress of final mechanism compared with conventional method. Besides, because various factors and objectives are already considered, the output of software can be employed directly without any comparison of graphic appearance and computation analysis.With respect to overall steel structure of four-bar-type gantry crane, we carry out further researches, which include finite element parametric analysis of four-bar-type gantry crane and secondary development of EXCEL VBA by combining secondary development technology of ANSYS and programming technology of EXCEL VBA. Based on above work, special software for four-bar-type gantry crane, which encapsulates all ANSYS operation, is developed to free user from tedious work, so that the running of ANSYS, the generation of ANSYS processing files and even the post-treatment of ANSYS computation result are all accomplished automatically. At last, the scientificity, reliability and practicality of developed software are verified by applying software on FEA analysis of 45t four-bar-type gantry crane of DHI-DCW CO., LTD.
