The Applicability Study On UV Treatment System Of Ships' Ballast Water

Ballast water has brought huge losses to every coastal country. In february 2004, IMO passed the International Convention For The Control And Management Of Ships' Ballast Water And Sediments in london. It creats stands for treatment of ballast water This paper proposes and studies UV radiation method to treat ballast water. This article introduce UV treatment system from view of practical, compare with other systems both in home and abroad, this system get a high rate of treatment, get good prospect to be put into practice.The paper carrys a series of experiments and do some research about the system.The study includes the following aspects of this issues.1. It introduces the equipments and methods selected about the system, designs a treatment scheme, builds the experiment system.Give the attention of operating the system and safety of operator. Debug the system and prepare for the experiment.2. Chose the goal species according to relevant conventions, use nitzschia and dunaliella as the goal species.3. Design the plan for experiment, by changing the uv radiation dose and flow of ballast water analysis the results get the report of treatment.4. After analysis, when the flow rate is 5m3/h,the system get higher efficiency. Demonstrate the high inactivated effect, some data of treatment for bacteria accompany to the requirements of the convention.5. Compare with other systems both in home and aborad, it still got a high effiency. Get good prospect to be put into practice.
