As a safe protector, damper has been widely applied to all sorts of mechanical systems. In this paper, the characteristic and test method of high-speed and heavy-burden vehicle-elastomer damper has been researched, aiming at technical application. First, the structure of elastomer damper and the characteristic of elastomer have been analyzed, and then, the mechanics model has been made. Second, the viscous damping and elasticity characteristics of elastomer damper have been researched, and their influential parameters have been discussed accordingly. Third, the steady-state and dynamic working models of elastomer damper have been built, and the simulation calculation has been carried out and analyzed. Finally, the characteristic test system of elastomer damper has been founded and the experiment results have been compared with simulation results.Chapter 1 gives a comprehensive description about the principle, species and performance indexes of damper. The research work's significance and the current development state are discussed, and the main research content of this paper is given.Chapter 2 introduces the application background of elastomer damper and analyses its structure and the characteristic of elastomer. The mechanics model of elastomer damper is built, and, the viscous damping force and elasticity reverting force is gained, which supplies basis for latter chapters.Chapter 3 gains the viscous damping characteristic of elastomer damper according to the slit flow and thick wall-ostiole flow of elastomer. The elasticity characteristic is also gained according to the compressible character of elastomer. Both of the characteristics are simulated and analyzed, and their influential parameters are discussed. The steady-state and dynamic working models of damper are built and simulated, and their influential factors such as load speed and load character are analyzed.Chapter 4 introduces the elastomer bumper test system's principle, structure and test flow. The design principles of hydraulic system, mechanic system and software system are analyzed. The experiment results are compared with simulation results, and, the multiple impact phenomenons and the peak value of impact force are analyzed.The last chapter summaries the main research conclusion and puts forward further research work.
