Gradation Design And Pavement Performance Of Asphalt Mixture In Tropical Rainforest Area | | Posted on:2008-02-03 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Y Zhang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2132360278978408 | Subject:Materials science | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Based on the problem of rutting, bleeding, flushed and hole asphalt pavement on tropical rainforest area, this paper introduces the Bailey method to design the asphalt pavement on the skeleton density theory and particle interfering theory as design basis, which form the dense skeleton structure to decrease the rutting damage of high temperature and moisture damage.On the base of the three parameters of the Bailey method(CA,FAc,FA_f),this paper introduce a new factor "q" which represent the materials of filler in the coarse aggregate. Through a series of experiments, it found that the new indictor has notable effect on the volumetric properties and pavement performance of the asphalt pavement. Furthermore, this paper analyses the effect on the aggregate degradation of different CA and different chosen-unit-weight and on the internal structure of the asphalt pavement usingMarshall and superpave gyratory compactor method. The paper studies on the shear resistant property of different CA and different chosen-unit-weight on different temperature with direct shear test. The results show that the shear strength on 60℃and the dynamic stability in rutting test on 60℃have familiar trend, which also indicates that the shear strength and the dynamic stability in rutting test have a good relationship on evaluating the high temperature stability of the asphalt mixture.This paper evalated the compaction property of the asphalt mixture through the densification curve of the Superpave Gyratory Compactor, introduce four factors such as CEI,TDI,k1,k2 to reflect the compaction property of the asphalt mixture under construction and traffic load, and analyses the compaction extent of the asphalt mixture with different CA and different chosen-unit-weight.
