The natural phenomenon by the interaction between flow and banks is known as riverbank collapsed. It leads to major danger, threats seriously the lives and property of people on both sides usually. For a long time, a number of experts and scholars from domestic and foreign had studied on the riverbank collapsed. At present, the awareness of the riverbank collapsed is still in the stage experience to a large extent. And it is a lack of systematic research on the mechanism of the collapse. Based on previous studies, the article studied more in-depth on the mechanism of the riverbank collapse the simulation analysis of the seepage field in the bank, the seepage-stress coupled model, the stability analysis of the bank in coupled case and the sensitivity analysis of the impact factors and so on. The main contents of the study as follows:(1) Summed up the cause types and characteristics of the bank collapse, the composition of the bank, studied on the stability mechanism affected by water flow, water table and other factors.(2) Based on Strength Reduction Method, combined with a typical example, analysis its stability, the results were in line with the actual work. In addition, affect the collapse, results showed that the slop angle had the largest sensitivity degree, minimal friction angle and cohesion between them.(3) Based on the basic theory of flow, built a flow analysis model, combined with an example, simulated its flow field and results were in line with the actual work.(4) Based on Biot consolidation principle and effective stress principle, studied more systematic the interaction mechanism of seepage and stress field, made the seepage and stress coupled mathematical model based on Finite Difference Method. Combined with a typical example and simulated it, studied the coupled process more in-depth. Analysis the sensitivity of the bank in coupled case. Results show: the slope angle had the largest sensitivity. In addition, studied the stability of riverbank in coupled case, analysis the stability in different slope angle, water level difference solid conditions, draw the collapse forecast curve of the riverbank, and used to guide practice.
