The inclining of buildings on soft soil has long been a concerned important problem in civil engineering. For the reasons of investigation, design, construction, application, maintaining management and nature disaster etc, they reduce the existing buildings or construction-in-progress on soft soil to uneven settlement, tilting, deflection, crack and something like this. Geotechnical engineers acquire varieties of advanced measures of leaning rectification worldwide, and introduce several methods to inclination rectification according to the environment in our country, which improve the effect of inclination rectification continually. However, any method can not use everywhere, for its own application ranges and limits. Once misused, it will not achieve to the predicted effect, make amount of waste, and even incline to the failure of projects. Accordingly, when doing inclination rectification, according to different engineering geological properties, building structure and foundation forms, one or some reasonable measures of inclination rectification should be used.In allusion to disease of building leaning, this paper discusses the main reasons for building tilting in detail, summarizes some methods to inclination rectification and especially introduces the anchor jacked piles method which usually used on the soft soil foundation in Shanghai. At last, by examples of large projects, local detection and evaluation, the author analyses reasons for building tilting, and presents some reliable and effective layout for inclination rectification. Then the author draws a significant conclusion by the analysis of the local detection data.
