The operation of high-speed electrified railway sets a higher request to the reliability. The catenary system reliability influences electric railway's development. So the research is imminent. The aim of the catenary system research is to annihilate inevitable failure and control haphazard failure in permission scope through the analysis of the failure and invalidation of every subsystem and parts. And we can enhance the catenary system reliability, quality and economic efficiency. The system's safe operation must be guaranteed.This article takes one middle shoring type as the research object. The author uses load theory and a mechanics method to calculate the work loads under various conditions. The 3D models of parts & system are set up by Pro/E, and the precise stress is obtained by using the ANSYS software. Parts & components reliability is analyzed according to stress-intensity theory which is clear to reveal the reason of a certain failure rate and the essence of mechanical strength reliability design. And catenary parts fatigue reliability calculation model is established.Functional block diagrams of the various parts of the system are established through the definition of the whole system. So the catenary system fault tree model is established. Therefore, the qualitative and quantitative analysis for system is accomplished. At the same time, the programme for computer associate analysis of the fault tree is completed.By analyzing the influential factors of catenary system reliability after the reliability of the system is determined, the reliability of sub-system is assigned using the relative failure rate method and AGREE distribution method. And through the improvement of AGREE distribution method, this paper takes a comprehensive consideration of the original failure rate, the fault mode, cost etc. Both reliability of whole system and economic benefit are ensured. And the arithmetic is programmed simultaneously. The example's result shows the reliability of catenary system tallys well of the actual situation on the railway. It provides a feasible method for the reliability allocation optimum design of catenary system.Through theoretical analysis, Visual Basic is chosen as a platform for coding. The database is established through Access. And using the expedite communicate function between VB and Access, the mixed code technique between VB and Ansys or Matlab, the reliability calculating method is studied through 3D model, finite element analysis, reliability computation and assignment. Finally, the software for calculating the catenary system reliability is designed. It gives a reference for the reliability design of catenary parts.
