With regards to the fly request of domestic designed and manufactured remote control ST-3 airship, on the base of absorbing the results of the same type products of home and abroad and analyzing the research results of our project group, the flying control system of ST-3 type remote control airship was improved and the monitor system of airship was designed and developed.As to the forefather's achievements, they were summarized and analyzed briefly. Introduced the structure of airship, principle of flying and the developing current situation of domestic and aboard of airship. Summarize, macro analysis and design were made as to the orientation flight and auto-return of the ST-3 type airship linking the actual need.To carry out the more precise orientation flight and reduce the inaccuracy as much as possible, the Gauss-Kruger projection was adopted in this paper, converting the earth based coordinates to the horizontal coordinate, controlling the location inaccuracy by calculating within meter level, so as to decrease the controlling inaccuracy.The dsPIC30F4013 digit controller of MICROCHIP was adopted as the core of control system, the dsPIC30F4013 digit controller received the data such as height, longitude, latitude, speed and course transmitted by GPS receiver via serial port, after a series of calculating and controlling, controlling the bypass paddle, steering engine, electro magnetic valve and string bin with it's strong function, so as to fly according to the special route, then make the airship come back along the primary route after it reached the destination.For guarantying the airship fly along the scheduled route, and can be found when something goes wrong and can be dealt with in time, a real-time monitor and control system based on windows platform was designed. The system is programmed based on the Visual Basic 6.0, which is belonged to Microsoft; the base functions of data acquisition, database manipulation, real-time analog display and changing the course are included in the system. The system can display the flight route, some necessary data such as longitude, latitude etc.The debugging and testing shows that the control system reaches the prospective request basically, achieves the control request of orientation flight of airship. The monitor software can gather the needed data, and display the flying route normally.
