This thesis firstly summarizes and reviews domestic and overseas development, structural characterics and applied range of single-tower cable-stayed bridges. Based on the design scheme of a single-tower cable-stayed bridge, Xijiang Bridge in Guangdong, a combined finite element model based on beam element for the bridge was established by MIDAS/CIVIL 2006, a large-scale finite element software. The structural behaviors and deflections under 81 construction stages are computed and analyzed in detail. The influence of the time-dependent effect on the structural behaviors under the construction processes and finished stage are analyzed. The free vibration periods and modes of the bridge are calculated by using a subspace iteration method, and seismic response characteristic of the bridge is studied by using response spectrum analysis. At last, some conclusions are drawn by the above analysis. Therefore, the static and dynamic behaviors and analysing method of single-tower cable-stayed bridge are comprehensively understood.
