Since 1949, China has built a mess of highway bridges. Due to the wear of long-term service and overload damage, some of these bridges have reliability problem and need reliability assessment. This paper first introduces the basic concept of bridge reliability and the features of reliability assessment. The theoretical basis of bridge reliability assessment is based on multiple failures mode, structure system reliability range method, PNET method, neural network method, genetic algorithms and so on. The common bridge structure reliability assessment methods include method based on appearance exploratory, method based on design specification, method based on load testing, method based on expert experience and method based on structure reliability theory. Now the most widely used method is method based on load testing. Compared with other methods, this method has the advantages of low human factors, the finial result to be stress and strain, persuasiveness strong.This paper systematically expounds bridge static load testing and bridge dynamic load testing, the mechanism analysis and reliability methods of bridge static and dynamic load test. Combined with practical project, showing the concrete application of the bridge structure reliability assessment method based on bridge load tasting, using finite element method, doing accurately analysis and calculation on testing bridge, and analyzing and verifying with the measured data.Finally, this paper analyzes existing problems and development direction of the bridge structure reliability assessment method base on bridge load testing.
