The research of punching and shear problem for reinforced concrete slab structures has been carrying on for almost one hundred years until now, large results have been obtained.However, because of its complexity, we can not say that satisfied solution for the failuer load and failurem echanism has been found.At the persent time,the more feasible means is still making experimentations to understand the phenomenon and the essence of punching failure and shear failure.For this reason, the author has read all the available research reports, and based on a great number of test results, tried to make a systematic summarization and investigation on the problem.The main content of this paper is:(1) Introduce and summarize the failure modes and punching failure mechanism in detaile based on large numbers of slab-column connections pecimens.(2) Combined with existing research results to analyse and discusse some kinds of factors affecting shear strength of slab-column connection.(3) Based on a large number of test results of flat slabs'failure, deduce formulas of shear strength by regression which coincide with test results.The formulas can be used to pre—estimate failure laod of specimen under concentrated load, and can be used to calculate and designe in project.(4) Use seven flat slabs under concentrated load to simulate, and the simulations are approach to test results.In short, it is feasible use ANSYS to simulate flat slabs'failure under concentrated load, the simulated results can be used to analysis the stress and the strain of reinforced concrete slab system in project,and direct engineering practice.
