HV-TSC is an important and typical component of SVC work in 6kV-35kV power system. Its application in power systems provides an effective means for the safety and economic operationg of the system. HV-TSC can also provide a good solution to voltage and power quality problems. The research and development of HV-TSC by domestic research institutes and manufactories is being in progress. It is of great significance to speed up the R&D process and promote the applications of HV-TSC in the domestic grid as soon as possible.First in Reactive power measurement, how to accurately detect it in complex enviroment for example the harmonic interference, this thesis used a method based on FFT transform can be very well to get it. The thyristor valve is one of the key parts of HV-TSC. It is required that the thyristor valves of HV-TSC possess excellent electric characteristics. The control to the thyristors valves should be highly effective and reliable. Getting across investigating the thyristors'specialty and technique in series, the article brought forward the static state and dynamic voltage equipoise. The results of the simulation show that the voltage equipoise circuits works perfect.The technology of HV-TSC valve's turn-on without inrush current presentation is also one of the main research points, for the high voltage rank the SSR (Solid State Relay) or integrated zero-crossing trigger chips which usually used in low voltage system can not meet the requirement. So in this paper designed a specialized zero-crossing detection and trigger ciruct, and thus greatly reduced surge current. This sort of switch circuit achieved switching of capacitorswithout transition course and was simple and reliable. At the same time, some sorts of criterions were compared in this paper and voltage andreactive power compound criterion was applied in the device. The compound criterion whose main criterion was reactive power and whose assistant criterion effectively overcame the defects of the power factor criterion inwhich switching oscillation was often resulted in under light load and compensation was insufficient under heavy load. Compared with reactive power criterion, the compound criterion gave attention to decreasing power loss and improving voltage quality.
