Nowadays, the architecture of museum with its unique culture, is playing a more important role in the social activities. At the beginning of the 20th century, along with the various trends of architectural springing up, the concept of architecture design is also taking on a few new tendencies which providing museums multiple development with tremendous opportunity. The constant change of the modern society has also endowed the museum with new function and role. This change not only represents the trend of building's development, but also acts as the pronoun which is used to judge the social development and the cultural transmutation: The museum is a center of culture which is accessible to the public, an important element in city's combination, the catalyst point between city's construction and city's development. In the process of studying the museum, the thesis leads into the theory of urban catalysts.Through associative analysis for architecture feature and media function of the museum, the aim of the article is to pinpoint the architecture feature of museum on the level of metropolis, that is the museum assists in creating city characteristic and aim, conserving city memory and content, embracing city culture and life. In the meanwhile, this article has clarified the new appeal for museum declarified the new appeal for museum development and the relationship between the function of museum and urban development. Base on the analysis above, the article has summed up the foundational content, the elementary principle, the operational procedure, the operational mechanism and the target of the museum design.On the basis of studying the museum both home and abroad, I comprehensively take the advantage of the methods of analysis, conclusion and deduction to pinpoint the developing trend of the museum in the new era starting with the aspect of museum's design. Also combined with the theory of urban catalysts, I stated the designing scheme of museum's structure through four perspectives: location, overall layout, exterior shape, design of space and environment.
