Because of activities in the low-altitude which tend to icing, and higher rotor speed, the frozen condition of helicopter is more serious than fixed-wing aircraft, thereby more prone to dangerous incidents. Rotor is one of the most vulnerable parts of icing, also the most serious impact on security of helicopters. However, there is almost no domestic research about icing-detection method for rotor. This thesis aims to find an efficient and feasible method of rotor icing detection, thereby achieving the purpose of real-time judgment for rotor icing-state.Through analyzing rotor's structure and scope of icing and combining the basal theory of infrared detection technology, a method of rotor icing detection based on infrared reflection is advanced in this thesis. The method has some advantage, such as low-cost, high-efficiency, not affected by atmosphere, Anti-electromagnetic interference, and so forth, which is very applicable to the poor working environment of rotor. This thesis focuses on icing-detector's optical system design, circuit design and experimental situation. In order to achieve long-range detection of ice signal, and overcome the interference of background light, the detector uses infrared optical system of single-lens adds coaxial fiber-optical beam. Besides, the designing of correlative detection circuit effectively helps to filter out the noise and interference signals, which brought about by waving, shimmy, reversing of blades that in high-speed rotation. In addition, experiment is conducted in different simulated conditions and icing-conditions, accessing multi-sets test data, which compared and analyzed finally. The experiments results show that, this detection method presented in the thesis achieve the basic performance indicators to rotor icing detection, with high viability.
