Internal solitary waves are a kind of common nonlinear waves in nature. As they carry large energies and widely exist in oceans all over the world, internal solitary waves have significant influence on the safty of submarines. Content results can hardly be attained by normal linear potential theory since the interaction between internal solitary waves and submarines is a much complicated problem due to its great nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, the numerical flume based on viscous fluid theory will be an effective and direct way for solving this problem. On the basis of reviewing and summarizing recent researches of such a problem, the works in following aspects has been carried out:In chapter II, based on the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations closed by employing the k ?εmodel and the volume of fluid (VOF) method, a numerical internal solitary wave flume with the ability of wave generation and absorption is developed, the validity for such a method is numerically confirmed. In chapter III, the interaction between internal solitary waves and submarines without speed is numerically simulated by use of the proposed numerical flume. The external dynamic loads on the submarine due to internal solitary waves are presented, showing that the maximum forces appeared when the submarine is located in the peak of the internal solitary wave.In chapter IV, the interaction between internal solitary waves and the submarines with speed has been considered. Combining the method of layering-type dynamic mesh and the piston-like zone, the problem which makes the submarine moves towards the internal solitary wave has been solved. The interaction between internal solitary waves and submarines is successfully simulated by use of the proposed method, and results show that the effect of the speed of the submarine on its load due to internal solitary wave is obvious.
