With high-speed train to the direction of development, the importance of safety of the railway became increasingly pronounced. By leaps and bounds in China's railway development background, the AC drive electric locomotives will become the mainstream of the development and application of the locomotive. AC traction motor as one of the core equipment in the AC drive electric locomotive, its safe operation related to the traffic safety of the entire train, so to carry out on the AC traction motor fault diagnosis is essential.On basis of which the paper has summarized and drew on the results of previous studies, the traction motor failure mechanism and diagnostic methods were studied. In allusion to the work mechanism of traction motor, DJ1 locomotive as an example, the thesis has done a systematical analysis of the performance characteristics about stator-winding short circuits fault, bearing failures and rotor air-gap eccentricity fault, extracted the fault characteristic frequency corresponding and revealed the internal relation between various types of fault and characteristic frequency.Paper has adopted wavelet packet decomposition algorithm for fault signal analysis and processing and logarithm fault features vector extraction algorithms for extracting the fault characteristics of an effective vector. In this paper, BP neural network model were used to distinguish and diagnosis the three traction motor faults, and put forward a fault diagnosis algorithm based on wavelet packet -neural network.Paper has designed and implemented AC traction motor fault diagnosis board based on the microcontroller of MB90F334, board driver program prepared and transplantedμC/OS-Ⅱreal-time operating system and based on wavelet packet - neural network algorithm for fault diagnosis in the single-chip. At the same time, by using analog data acquisition board to simulate traction motor fault signal, using voltage limiter circuit to connection with the failure of the traction motor integrated diagnostic system based on embedded systems, and by the LCD screen for real-time diagnostic results show, the thesis established a traction motor fault diagnosis experimental platform. At last, the traction motor fault diagnosis experiment result proved the algorithm in this paper is feasibility.
