The automobile is people's commonly used transportation vehicle, it can have breakdown in the long-term using. Because of complexity of automobile's structure, and the vehicle fault contain lots of nondeterministic and fuzziness, the automobile fault diagnosis and service are becoming difficult. Facing with automobile quantity which grows day by day, it brings very tremendous pressure for the automobile fault diagnosis technology and the service technology. Therefore, people hope that new technology and advanced method of breakdown diagnosis are developed, in order to promptly get the breakdown removes.Petri nets are a system modeling tool, because of its asynchronous and concurrent of character, it promising for describing dynamic system, therefore it has wide application in fault diagnosis domain and so on. The fuzzy Petri net is the expand theory of Peri nets, due to it contains fuzzy theory, fuzzy Petri net can dispose the noedeterministic and fuzziness question more exactly than generally Petri nets.At present, the application of fuzzy Petri net in automobile fault diagnosis is also less, in view of this situation, this paper research the fuzzy Petri net theory and automobile fault phenomenonand and reason, then a automobile fault diagnosis method using fuzzy Petri net is proposed. In this paper fuzzy Petri net for knowledge representation and knowledge inspected is studied, a knowledge database model of automobile fault diagnosis using fuzzy Petri net is constructed. Then, according to the fault diagnosis model, the reasoning algorithm via fuzzy Petri net and its application in automobile fault diagnosis are researched. This paper also attempt using another kind of reasoning algorithm instead of the commonly used algorithm. At last this paper propose a method to store knowledge database of fuzzy Petri net using XML document, and then confirm the validity of the algorithm throught JAVA programming.Through the automobile fault diagnosis example confirmation, it shows that fault diagnosis knowledge representation via fuzzy Petri net, and then dispose fault question using reasoning algorithm of fuzzy Petri net, and appling this method in automobile fault diagnosis is feasible and effective.
