Freeways are playing an imporant role in the field of road transportation,because of their rapidness,security,comfortness,and ecomomical features.In the using period,they need to be maintained and reconstructed frequently,in order to keep their facilities in good conditiongs.Most of the time,they are keeping to be opened to traffic while maintenance is carrying on.It resulted their lanes number decreases,the capacity reduces,and many tangled operating conditions,such as lane changing,merging,drverging,tangled,etc.It is a tangled ande unsage segment of freeway.Now,the freeway need maintaining thoughout in our country,accidents that happened at work zone gradually increase nowadays.It is very necessary and pressing to improve the road safety of freeway work zone.On the basis of analyzing existing research outcomes,thei paper starts from acident data analyzing of work zone,then analyes the main causes of accidents.According the collocted traffic data,analyzing the changing regular of traffic flow.Using TCT to building the freeway work zone traffic saflty assessment which based on traffic safty degree.It offer an effective techinque support for work zong traffic safty assessment,and give an guidance to improve the level of workzong safty.First,collecting the traffic flow data of freeway work zone,analyzing the regular changing of work zone traffic flow.Then analyzes accident data of work zone,find out the main causing facters of work zone accidents.At last,using TCT to study the traffic safty assessment method of accdent lacking freeway work zone,sat up freeway work zone traffic safty assessment model based on traffic safty degree,and takes Tonghuang freeway work zone as example,verifies the effectiveness of the plan.
