Along with the miniaturization of the mechantronics products, automatic assembly plays more and more important role in the study and assembly of micro electronic mechanics system (MEMS). Micro-assembly system for micro-part conveying and assembling was developed for the MEMS assembly. For some miniature parts assembly, an automatic assembly system was designed and developed. The main structure of system was designed and control circuitry of system was also designed. Based on the analysis of assembly strategy, the system assembly errors were analyzed and calculated.An automatic assembly system for miniature parts was designed and developed, which includes manipulator, visual system, vacuum gripper, control circuitry and assembled work-table. Visual system is a crucial part for assembly system, which can monitor the assembly process and feed back the information of miniature parts. Monitoring the assembly area is difficult, because the assembly area is big. The manipulator of 3 DOF was used for driving visual system so that it can monitor the whole assembly area. Conventional mechanical grippers can easily destroy the miniature parts. Therefore vacuum grippers which consist of a force sensor were designed and developed for the parts shipping from the parts carriers to the assembly area. Another manipulator of 3 DOF was designed and developed for driving vacuum grippers. The force sensor can perform the control of force. Assembly fixture and parts carriers were installed in the rotary motion controller, they formed an assembly platform. An assembled work-table was designed and manufactured which includes main stage and follow-up supporter. The assembled work-table was in ergonomic design, and in which the installation locations of different parts of assembly system were reasonably given. The hardware system of assembly system was designed which using a relay card to realize inputs/outputs. Inputs realize the input of control commands. Outputs realize the control of sub-systems. Scientific assembly strategy and scientific assembly sequence can improve the accuracy of assembly, predigest operation, and improve the efficiency of assembly. Each micro-part assembly strategy and sequence was identified. Based on the theory of random error and identified assembly sequence, the angle error, the symmetry error and coaxial degree error of miniature parts assembly error, were analyzed and calculated.
