Outer-engaged gear pump has many advantages, such as simple structure, small volume, and light weight, good self-absorption performance, insensitive to oil pollution, reliable, long service life, low cost, easy to maintenance and so on. Therefore, it is widely used in the Hydro-Mechanical systems. Calculation of the geometric size of the modified gear, analysis of the flow characteristics of the outer-engaged gear pump, leakage and gap, radial force are discussed in this paper. Then, the simulation of 4100QB oil pump which using those parameters are involved.Main contents of the thesis are listed as follows:(1) Conclude that the gear transmission is non-backlash transmission and modified the addendum.(2) we studied the instantaneous flow rate formula of the outer-engaged gear pump and uneven flow coefficient formula of modified gear. And the relationships between the uneven flow coefficient and overlap coefficient, gear numbers, modification coefficient are calculated.(3) The work of derivation end-leakage calculation formula, radial leakage calculation formula, the optimal end-gap calculation formula and optimal radial gap calculation formula has been done in the paper. We calculated the optimal end-gap and optimal radial gap of 4100QB oil pump, which has significant practical application for the optimization of 4100QB oil pump.(4) The changing rules of the radial force which generated by the hydraulic pressure are analyzed. Radial force which generated by gear meshing is calculated by using the formula of calculation arc between the two points in the involutes. Through the analysis of radial force which generated in the process of gear meshing, we presented three methods which could reduce the radial force.Our researches on the characteristic-optimization of the 4100QB Oil Pump have significant effect in the further theoretical studies.
