| Energy crisis and environmental problem have been more and more critical for even every country in the world. Modern vehicle as automobile and motorcycle are developing to being more light weighted for energy saving. And ads well to reduce exhaust emission. To lighten the auto, it's an effective way to replace the old material by light material with the same performance. Magnesium alloy is one of the lightest metal materials for industrial application with a number of advantages including low density, relatively, high specific tenacity, good cast ability, good shock absorption capability etc. Since 1990, US, Japan, Germany, Australia etc. sequentially announced research projects on magnesium alloy, which is considered as the key subject of study and research in the 21 st century. China's Ministry of Science also specially announced the significant projects, "Development, Application and Industrialization of Magnesium", in the "10th Five - Year Plan" national key science program. This paper proposed a developmental process of magnesium alloy wheels used for electric bicycle based on this background.This paper mainly research on automobile wheel. Based on the general process of product development, the technical route is made including product structure, process scheme and mould. Using the software of CAD & CAE, the structure of the automobile wheel is designed and its performance is analyzed. The mould cavity is designed and the process scheme is made and simulated.This paper mainly worked on redesigning of material substitution, the redesign method of product material substitution is analyzed. Then, a common model about this is proposed. And based on this model, the structure of a wheel is designed. The three experiment of the dynamic bending fatigue experiment, the dynamic radial fatigue experiment and the impact test are simulated in the finite element software. The result shows that the performance of the wheel is satisfied for the demand. And the concentrated stress is reduced through the way of increase the size of the guiding angle where the value of stress is high. And then the structure of the wheel is improved.The method about molding process of magnesium alloy wheel is multiple. The way of manufacturing automobile wheel with squeeze casting is not ripe on its research stage. This paper summarized main points of the squeeze casting mould, and the cavity of the mould of the wheel is designed by Pro ENGINEER software based on the process characteristics of the squeeze casting.Using the models of the wheel and the mould which designed previously, the squeeze casting process is simulated based on orthogonal tests and FEM. The temperature field during filling and solidification process is simulated. Through the simulation, the effects of the processing parameters are analyzed and discussed. And an excellent scheme of the processing parameter is concluded. By simulated with these parameters, the quality of the casting is improved as showed in the result. |
