As the functions of modern telemetry system become more and more complex and the high reliability is also required,highly automated general purpose test & measurement system (GTS) is one of the key technologies for developing the telemetry systems. In this thesis it makes the advanced general testing techniques in the field of telemetry as its research area, focuses on the feasibility research and analysis of new generation FPGA and system design technology, system design FPGA based of GTS is also put forward, and completes the engineering prototype.GTS for telemetry mainly consists of computer control software and hardware platform .The computer control software is the virtual instrument panel of the system, which completes human-computer interaction and receiving and sending data. The hardware platform system is mainly used for sending the designated digital data and return-data acquisition, and also provide 64 analog signals.It introduces the domestic and foreign research status and development trends of ATS in the thesis, and comprehensively elaborates GTS from four aspects that includes global scheme design, the hardware design, the reliability and the electromagnetic compatibility design and the test results. The key technologies are also fully analysed in the system design and debugging, and the solutions are put forward. The concrete summary is as follows:(1) It makes all uses of FSM in the main module, in contrast with microprocessor-based scheme, it can estimate execution speed more easily, make the system smaller , and facilitate realizing the FPGA.(2) How to use the embedded logic analyzer (Signaltap) and the state machine coding technology to monitor the key signal for real-time in FSM and FPGA internal modules is also put forward, which accelerate the speed of debugging. (3) Analog sources are carried out by DDS based on FPGA. It has the technical characteristics of flexible adjusting and large storage depth. Only by adjusting digital signals before DAC not analyzing benefit can establish waveform parameter , and raise anti-interference and temperature drift(4) The digital quantity test module includes 8 digital signal sources and eight PCM yards collecting-and-categorizing unit. Digital signal sources with RS232 data frame format, have its parameters (such as code rate,frame cycle length,frame length) set by the control software.(5) It use multiple data buffer FIFO module and channel coding technology to solve the problem of seamless PCM streaming transfer with independent path parameter.In the thesis it also analyses the common interference sources in GTS for telemetry. To solve the electromagnetic interference problems in the prototype debugging, EMC design for the power module, PCB and some key signals are also given. Finally, by analyzing the test results and waveforms, the system design scheme is proved to be feasible.
