How to control effectively the cracks of concrete structure which result from temperature contraction stress of mass concrete is a universally faced important issue during the current construction of mass concrete. The crack problems of mass concrete basement affect directly the integrality, endurance and water-proof capability of basement structures. So the effective measures should be taken timely to control the potential cracks.Combined with construction of a concrete basement slab of a pharmaceutical plant in Hefei City, this paper studies the mechanism, influence factors and control measures of arisen cracks at early age of the mass concrete. Stated briefly as follows:1. On the basis of consulting a large number of references, the characteristics temperature shrinkage cracks for mass concrete basement are introduced, and the mechanism, influence factors of cracks at early age of the mass concrete are analyzed by making use of the theory on material, conformation and constraint etc.2. Based on the principle of the thermodynamics, the calculations are carried out on the cement hydration heat, concrete temperature and its temperature stress, and the maximum pouring-length of concrete basement slab.3. The specific technique measures of crack control at early age of the mass concrete are put forward from the respects of design, raw materials, conformation and construction etc.4. The specific technique measures of crack control at early age of the mass concrete, the calculations of temperature stresses and maximum pouring-length of concrete basement slab are applied in a practical project, and the temperature field of concrete is simulated by using the ANSYS software, and satisfied fruits are obtained, which shows the feasibility and necessity of crack control at early age of the mass concrete basement.
