To strengthen concrete columns with pre-tensioning fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is a new-style retrofit technique. For FRP providing volunteered restriction to the core concrete, the method has got good results. And the method is increasingly welcomed by the civil engineers.Based on a large number of documents at home and abroad, the main technical characteristics of pre-stressed FRP reinforced concrete columns are summarized in this paper. The development background and engineering applications are introduced. And also based on the above work, the seismic behavior of pre-stressed FRP reinforced concrete columns is analyzed.Based on the existing theory of FRP confined concrete columns in this paper, considering the impact of pre-stressed FRP, FRP pre-stressed reinforced concrete stress-strain curve is proposed. Then a low cyclic loading experiment modal is illustrated by ANSYS. And a finite element method that solves the similar problems is matured as a result. On this basis, the seismic behavior of the pre-stressed FRP enhanced of reinforced concrete columns is carried out. By using different degrees of pretension as the varying parameters, the seismic behavior of pre-stressed FRP strengthened reinforced concrete columns is calculated and analyzed. The failure mechanism of pre-stressed FRP strengthening concrete columns is also studied.
