Parallel flow condenser is a new type efficient and compact heat exchanger. It is featured with multistream capabilities, high thermal efficiency, small size, low weight, design flexibility and energy saving. Nowadays, it has been successfully used in automative air conditioning; there is widespread interest in expanding its applicable range to home air-conditioning.The author proposed research of the application of parallel flow condenser in residential central air-conditioning systems, designed the structure parameters of parallel flow condenser and optimized the structural parameters of the condenser.Based on empirical formula, a parallel flow condenser simulation model was established, the structural parameters of flat tube influencing in thermal performance of parallel flow condenser were studied. The study improved that reducing hydraulic diameter, height, width and aspect ratio of flat tube endoporus can enhance the heat transfer coefficient and raise pressure drop. The structural parameters of louver fin tube influencing in heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of air side was analyzed. It turned out that reducing height, increasing fin spacing appropriately and adopting bigger distance between blinds and slotted angle can enhance transfer coefficient and gain more reasonable air-side structural parameters.Based on the method ofε? NTU, a mathematical model of the heat exchange between the refrigerant and air was established. The change of heat quantity in the condenser, the temperature of the outlet for refrigerant and air and the refrigerant heat transfer coefficients along the pipe length was studied. The design process of non-uniform was also explained, which not only increased the coefficient of heat transfer but also not led to increase pressure drop. The result of this study provides a theoretical basis for residential central air-conditioning systems in parallel flow condenser design.
