The thin-walled structure is a very popular structure type. This covers building, bridge, ect. Usually, it is composed of sheet metal, shell, thin-walled. Satisfied the needs of strength, its weight is lighter, strength is greater the material could be more efficiently used in comparison with the other structure. So the thin-walled structure is widely used in engineering structure. The author summarized classic theory and FEM method of this structure. The classic theory may be divided into Vorousov open section and Wumanski closed section thin-walled bar theory. In this paper, the author discussed the theory, summarized the effect of beam geometry feature on the theory, put up the modified formula of maximal normal stress.Establishes 9 kind of different steel box finite element model using the ANSYS software, to establishes the different quantity separately the vertical partition board's situation and the establishment different quantity stiffening rib situation carries on the stress analysis, the research different quantity vertical partition board and the stiffening rib to the box stress influence, obtains the stiffening rib cross-sectional area and the stiffening rib ratio in the surface cross-sectional area based on this, stiffening rib in structure stress the function is biggest, and gives the example to carry on the confirmation. And carries on the comparison with the utilization classical theory obtained result, confirmed in the box bending moment big spot; the section flank stress is bigger than the section inside stress obviously. The bending moment is big as well as the bending moment reverse change place section stress distribution non-uniform phenomenon is very obvious. There is certain instruction function to the actual project's structural design.
