This paper analyzed the distribution of stress on the rock induced by rock splitter .With Hertz theory and Persson theory; we deduced a new calculation formula for the stress on the rock under the special conditions. Then, made use of numerical simulation to discuss what condition this formula can be used. In order to improve the research and design of the rock splitter, or guide the excavate processes.In this paper, in order to simulate and analyze the rock splitting mechanism, C9N radial splitter which produced by Germany DADAR company is used as the research objects. Consider about the shortage of rock splitting theory of splitters, finite element analysis software ANSYS9.0 is applied and 3D contact models of splitter feather and rock are set up to study stress distribution on the hole surface, the distribution and the variation of stress have been calculated. It is very important in theory and practical engineering to development of rock-splitters and improves the rock breaking effect by rock-splitters.The main research achievements and conclusions are as follows.(1) Derived a different formula to solve the problem of the state of stress on the hole-surface induced by rock-splitter which is base on Hertz theory. There are four kinds of contact condition which can be illustrated as follow: Complete contact, uncompleted contact, Hertz contact and irregular contact.(2) Using person's theory to solve the problem, under the condition of which Hertz theory do not work. Compare two formulas, we assume that under the conditions of feather and the surface of hole are uncompleted contact, the contact Angle is less than 50°。When satisfied those conditions, we can use the formula他to estimate the distribution of stress.(3) Set up Hertz contact models of splitter feather and hole-surface of isotropic elastic of materials. Solve the problem of the state of stress on the hole-surface induced by rock-splitter by the method of numerical simulation.(4) Set up 3D contact models of splitter feather and rock of isotropic elastic of materials. We analyzed the problem of the state of stress on the hole-surface induced by rock-splitter by the method of numerical simulation by finite element analysis software ANSYS9.0. The distribution and the variation of stress have been calculated. According to the conclusion of the result, compare with the formula that we have. We know, the formula can be work under the conditionεis less than 50 degrees.
