Geomagnetic storms in the network induced geomagnetically induced current(GIC) which largely threaten the transformer.Therefore study of management methods and techniques of GIC become meaningful.This article introduces there GIC management methods and their possible impact on the system,including transformer neutral point connect resistors in series,AC transmission lines connect capacitors in series transformer neutral point connect capacitors in series.And on the basis of this,it studies a new GIC management method based on the internal structure of transformer,used of self-excitation windings compensation.But installing management devices in a place could lead to more serious GIC matter in other location,so it also studies the optimization measure of GIC management devices installation location.And in accordance with the actual data of Changchun City grid, do some analysis of the feasibility and effectiveness of self-excitation windings compensation method and location optimization measure.
