The optimal control of the reactive valtage is one of the important methods to ensure the safe and economic operation of the municipal power system, and also an effective way to improve the quality of the power supply. Therefor, it's worthwhile both in theory and practice to study on the optimal control of the reactive valtage of the local power system in Wuhai. Base on the research of the local system reactive load, reactive source and the relations of the local network reactive power balance and the level of the system valtage,this paper indicated the problems of the methods of the optimal control of the reactive valtage used in Wuhai power system and clarified the feasibility and necessity to develop a local reactive valtage optimal control system.A mathmatic modol of the the reactive valtage optimal control system for Wuhai power system was set based on the valtage regulation algorithm and optimal reactive load flow modol.A system for municipal power system optimal reactive valtage control was developed using the function of the local electric network management system in Wuhai.The system can collect data using a PC workstation from Local Network Management System, and caculate the orders with which to regulate valtage with on-load for the main transformer of the substations and switch capacitors. The orders will be implemented by the electric network management system to realize the optimal reactive valtage control of the Wuhai power system,and finally, experimental result demonstrate the validity of the control system used in Wuhai power system.
