With the development of the economy of different coutries, the continual increasing water consumpiton of resident, and water body contaminted, more and more cities are in order to solve the sharp contradiction between supply and demand of water resources, long distance and large-scale water delivery cascade pumping stations must be built. In water supply system works, flow rate suddenly changing in pressure piping that create pressure of stream current steep rise or sudden drop, which is also called water hammer or hydraulic transient. Water hammer shall affect largely the normal operation of station, water hammer pressure of general cut-off water hammer higher 1.5 to 4 times than normal pressure, and the hammer water column separation can create greater water hammer pressure. Many pumping station had been destroyed badly by water hammer and this cause great loss to the normal production and life for people. In the design, it is necessary to advance water hammer analysis, forecasting and simulation of accident conditions the occurrence of water hammer and dissemination of the law. Pump to stop water hammer transient numerical simulation of the process of optimizing the engineering design, reduce the project cost to ensure that the key to the safe operationoftheproject has important theoretical and practical value.This thesis summarizes the theory of Rigid water hammer and the theory of Elastic water hammer. The Elastic water hammer is based on the assumption that liquid is compressible and tube wall is elastomer, so it accords with the objective realities that the derived equation is differiential equations. The thesis introduces the derivative process of the Water hammer differential equations, based on the theory of Elastic water hammer. Accordingly, the thesis explain the basice principle of, method of characteristic curve and the derivation of Finite-difference equations, and several simple simple boundary condition equation. In addition, the thesis illustrates how to manage Pump-side boundary condition equation and boundary data when Stop pump water hammer is suspended. Based on the the basic theory of water hammer, calculation of water hammer and pump the boundary condition equation, the method utilized in this thesis is more mature method of characteristics, which uses Microsoft Visual C++6.0 to program calculation program of water hammer. The results were imported into Excel, then MATLBA was used to the water hammer transient numerical simulation of the pilot study data visualization.This is a new approach to program water hammer calculation software by taking advantage of the powerful data manage function from Excel and the chart manage function from MATLBA.
