As Chinese steel production continuously improves and the level of technology keeps on advancing, the steel structures are used more and more extensively and thin-walled light steel structures are becoming one of the main trends of the steel structure housing. At present, cold-formed steel has been widely used abroad and its main form is keel structure. While China is laggard whether in cold-formed steel production technology, norms, or design. For example, the cold-formed steel is only used as the subordinate components during the structure system. In addition, the research on cold-formed steel is mostly confined to the static axial force performance, including cold-formed steel buckling distortion, cold-formed steel with V-shaped stiffening plate elements, as well as the static performance of cold-formed steel components with opening. A small number of scholars have do some job on hysteretic behavior of tension-compression components of cold-formed steel. But the research on the hysteretic behavior of compression-bending components is still a big lack. This paper discussed the hysteretic behavior of compression-bending components, which will provide restoring force model for the research the cold-formed steel frame system and it has important practical significance in the project. In this paper, the author uses finite element software ANSYS, baseing on stability theory, considering the double non-linearity of geometry and materials and the effects of the initial geometric defects and residual stress, using shell element Shell 181, and established the finite element model to analyses C-section components of the cold-formed steel. This paper includes three parts. The first part is the buckling analysis of the steel C-section components of cold-formed steel under static axial and level force, which discusses the influence of various parameters on the buckling mode, bearing capacity and the buckling form of components in detail, and find out the key parameters and the laws by a large number of numerical simulation. The second part analyses the hysteretic behavior of C-section components of cold-formed steel, which find out key parameters and analyses the influence of these key parameters on the hysteretic behavior of components according such targets as hysteresis curve, skeleton curve, ductility coefficient. And this part gets ready for the experiment. The last part is the test report. And it is based on the two parts before. The test report includes confirming specimen, the design of test equipment, components processing, the disposal of measuring points and other related content. This paper makes a in-depth research on the static and dynamic performance of the C-section components under compression-bending force, which will also take on great significance on the follow-up research and the study of cold-formed steel structure system.
