As a basic industry of our country,hydraulic engineering produces tremendous economic and social effect for the steady progress of national economy and society.In order to further develop hydroelectricity energy,realize reasonable allocation of water resource and perfect flood control systems,a large number of hydroelectric power projects need to be constructed.Construction of new projects need enormous investment.For the snake of saving and making effective use of social fund,cost analysis and optimization in the decision-making stage are necessary.In this paper,life cycle cost theory is applied in the fields of design.The optimization objective of this paper is minimizing the total life cycle cost of hydro-structure with security and structure size in the whole life of hydro-structure as optimization restrictions.Some effective optimization methods are necessary in optimizing the design scheme.The purpose of this study is to find the optimal design scheme between the security and economy.Therefore the main content of this paper is summarized as follows:(1) Application and practical models research of life cycle cost theory in the field of engineering.(2) The method of calculation for stress based on least squares support vector machines and uniform design is put forward after analysis several frequently-used method of calculation for stress and their defection.This method can bring the calculation speed and computational accuracy into a state of unity in some degree.(3) Considering the small failure probability of hydro-structure,Marko chain Monte Carlo method and subset theory are combined for hydro-structure reliability analysis.This proposed method can simulate random variables with any distribution and can realize dynamic control.The method can greatly reduce sample simulation times on the premise of the simulation precision remain unchanged.(4) The basic principle and algorithm process of particle swarm optimization(PSO) are introduced.The parameters which influenced the optimization performance were analyzed.Then,an improved method——Simplex Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (SMPSO) is introduced in this paper.SMPSO not only has the same excellences as standard PSO but also has the excellences in improving the ability in local searching and robustness of PSO effectively.And SMPSO can find the global optimum solution more easily than PSO.So SMPSO is an effective method in solving the multidimensional and complicated problems.(5) Build design optimization model of hydro-structure basing on life cycle cost theory,and Simplex Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm(SMPSO) is introduced to optimize design scheme.(6) In the last section of the paper,the whole research is summarized and the prospects to the further research are put forward.
