Filter backwash is an important part of filter regeneration in water treatment process. The quality of backwashing will have a dramatic effect on the filtration process. In previous studies, lots of research direct response to filters, and the study of the regeneration of the media - backwashing are relatively small. In this paper, we made of way of stratified media backwash basing on systematically expounding the development and theory of filter backwash, in order to determine the feasibility of optimization and practical significance of these methods through exploring the new way of backwash.This article basics on two experiments, the first is Verification testing of SS pollutant stratification of filter, we have found that filter pollutant for the amount of dirt concentrated in the part of the following 400mm of filter though the experiment, it take up more than 80% amount of pollutant in the pollutant of whole filter. According to the experimental conclusion, setting up backwashing head by 450mm under the filter, optimizing backwash by combining Stratified backwashing and Conventional backwashing.The second one is to do experiment compared the effect of filter of Layered optimized backwashing and filter of traditional backwashing. The experiment use homogeneous quartz sand filter of d80 = 1.2mm d10 = 0.65mm K80 = 1.16 thickness by 900mm for filtration filter. Remaining the other conditions of filter, we measured parameters such as water quality, filtration of water production, water backwashing indicators of filter of layered optimized backwashing and filter of traditional backwashing under the different conditions of water turbidity (25NTU,10NTU,5NTU) .In this way, we confirmed the feasibility of layered optimizing backwashing filter and the better operating conditions of it.Experimental results show that layered optimizing backwashing Filter can achieve good results. The water turbidity keeps below 0.5NTU during the whole process of filtration. The Clean effect of filter by layered optimizing backwashing shows 20% better than the effect of traditional backwashing. The backwash water consumption in every cubic meter produced water of layered optimizing backwashing is less than the water consumption of traditional backwashing. 32% rinse water can be saved by using layered optimizing backwashing system.
