These days the space of the cable tunnels became insufficient and the loss of cables were too much.To solve the problems,the choice of cables,the sequence of cables and type of grounding were researched.According to the forecast of loads in Beijing,a long-term plan was made to tunnels,and the tunnel of adaptive dimension to 500kV substations was designed.According to the problems in power cable tunnels of Beijing and the advantages of high temperature superconductor(HTS) cable,the HTS cable and conventional XLPE cable were compared.The feasibility of HTS cable application in Beijing was discussed.After the principle and technology characteristic of HVDC light were introduced,the advantages of HVDC light application in transmission system was studied.With the comparison of the HVDC light cable and the XLPE cable,it was known that the HVDC light technology can make transmission capability increase and save space in tunnel.
